SRC Preapproval

The OCSEF Scientific Review Committee or SRC is set up by the OCSEF to help students comply with an established body of rules for scientific experimentation. The goal of these rules is to protect the researcher, the subjects involved in research, and the community where the research takes place.

Submitting your project to the SRC does not guarantee your acceptance into the OCSEF or ISEF, but you must obtain SRC pre-approval for your project in order to enter the science fair competition. We strongly recommend you submit your project for review in order to protect everyone involved.

Instructions: Complete the following form. Pay special attention to the certifications section. Once you start you must finish or all entered data will be lost.

It is best to type the Project Proposal off-line and Copy/Paste the sections into the application form. Your proposal will be saved in our database and displayed to the SRC without formatting. Use a text editor (eg. Notepad) to edit your proposal before you Copy/Paste it into the form below.

After you submit the form, you will see a confirmation (SRC Submission) page; you will also be emailed a copy of your confirmation. Print the page in case your email filters block the receipt of our confirmation email.

Certification Process: Certification Process: This is the last part of the SRC submission process. If you use human subjects, vertebrate animals, human or animal tissue, recombinant DNA, pathogenic agents, or controlled substances in your project, you must have the required Certification Forms completed before starting your project. The forms are available on this website for you to complete. Be prepared to upload your completed certifications at the end of this submission.

Certifications should be completed and signed prior to the start of any experimentation.
