The 69th Annual Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (OCSEF) celebrated its winners on Sunday, March 10 at Chapman University. Starting from August of last year, students were invited to submit their STEM projects for OCSEF 2024. This year, over 1,000 students from across Orange County participated, which was a 22% increase from last year thanks to OCSEF outreach efforts. We also had over 200 volunteer judges conduct student interviews in 20 categories and evaluate projects for special awards. The winners of the Board Awards in each category received a medal, certificate, and cash prize. Students also won numerous Special Award prizes (some of which also included cash rewards) from a diverse group of 30 STEM organizations.
“Every student is a winner,” said Prasanthi Sathyaprakash, OCSEF President at the event. “We are so happy to contribute to all these young scientists and engineers with learning and implementing the scientific method and engineering design principles.”
